Talent Number from the Toronto Legacy Pageant Pride (June 2025)

A canvas becomes my stage in this performance: a portrait of my own face painted upside down, crowned by my name written as a vertical ambigram.

This number is about perspective - about taking rejection, failure, and self-doubt, and reframing them into possibility. By changing the way we look at things, we change the story we tell ourselves. At the end of the video, I flip the work as the audio reminds us, “The Wheel of Fortune tarot card teaches that nothing stays the same: what’s on top will end up at the bottom, and what’s at the bottom will always rise up.”

Every detail - from the live brushstrokes to the soundscape and reveal - was crafted with intention. Performed at the inaugural Legacy Pride Pageant in Toronto, hosted by Lemon (winner of Canada vs the World Season 2).

Performance at The Hayloft Dancehall (May 2024)

This song is a direct message to the audience, I urge them to respond to me & acknowledge my presence. As the lyrics say, 'The less you do, the more it makes me crazy... You're turning me cruel 'cause I'm just wanting you to react.' Without their reaction, I spiral.

Outfit and choreography curated by me.

Who [Told] You to Hate Yourself? (May 2023)

In this performance piece, set to the powerful words of Malcolm X and the electrifying beats of Charity Kase's anthem, I call out Trent University’s attempt at “celebrating diversity” during Black History Month in 2023. My performance isn't merely entertainment; it's a call to action, a reminder of the importance of empathy, understanding, and celebrating cultural richness.

Every element of the performance was curated by me.

Testimonials

  • "Sahira the Djinn is pure magic, I mean that in the most serious way possible, they can take any space and transform it, they can take any material and create something fierce from it, and they can take any joke and make it dirtier - magic. Sahira brings something to drag that can be so rare to find: truth. Every performance has a message, every step they take has purpose, and their presence in the Peterborough drag scene is so meaningful. They have cultivated a space in small-town Ontario where up and coming Queer artists are able to get paid, to showcase their art authentically, and they built that shit from the GROUND UP. Sahira is constantly evolving, trying new things, exploring new ways to diversify their craft, and I’m always impressed. They are a fearless leader, a political activist, a genuine and caring teacher and mentor, and an amazing Drag Mother.”

  • “I created the Two-Spirit Event held at Trent University, and [Sahira is] one of the first people I thought of. [They] made such a huge impact on our students. My daughters both became [their] and Betty's biggest fans. We all love [them] so very much and can't wait to see what amazing things [they] bring/do in the New Year.”

  • “What couldn’t you say about Sahira. Sahira embodies art in thought and practice. A djinn of many talents, Sahira dabbles in most creative avenues. Whether that’s costume design, makeup, music, dance, performance each new avenues is one they’ve walked through before. Whenever I watch a Sahira performance I find something new to love and appreciate about the art they bring to the world. It’s critical but funny, it has depth but is accessible. Everything always seems so very intentional in their art from their face to the scent they choose to wear. I could speak forever about their art, I think the thing I appreciate about them most is they lead by example. Whether that’s reinvesting into their communities or speaking out about gross mistreatment they advocate for better by doing better. I’m sure Sahira will go out there and BITE a bi*ch, I would love to see them on drag race.”
